20B6 D Surface Ship Bridge/CIC Simulator


The Bridge/Combat Information Center (CIC) Trainer, Device 20B6D, is located at Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS), Newport, RI. This trainer is used in conjunction with classroom training of newly commissioned and junior line officers with no at-sea operational experience. The trainer provides a realistic environment for training and practicing Bridge and CIC duties similar to the functions associated with navigating ships in various harbors and underway environments. Device 20B6D uses a projected computer generated visual scene that provides a 120-degree view of simulated harbors, cultural features and vessels. RDR is completely remanufacturing the ship mock-ups and instructor control stations of Device 20B6D. This includes the following tasks:

• Replace the host computers, refurbish all controls and displays and rewire the student mock-ups for DD-963, DDG-51 and FFG-7 Class ships.
• Remove and replace both Master Instructor Operator Stations (MIOS) and Instructor Operator Stations (IOSs) and all associated software.
• Refurbish and rehost the simulated AN/SPA-25 Radar Repeater consoles to a SPA-25G configuration in each mock-up.
• Design and install new operating system software, training scenarios, and instructor control software including automated Built-In Test (BIT) and Daily Operational Readiness Tests (DORT).
• Update the following associated technical and logistics documents:

  	c)	Training Device Inventory Record
  	d)	Engineering Drawing Set
  	e)	Software Design Description (SDD)
  	f)	Interface Requirement Specification

  	h)	Training System Document
  	i)	Planned Maintenance System
